Cerro Largo, bordering on Brazil, is placed in the Northeast of the national territory, where it has an extension of 13.648 square kilometres, delimited north by the states of Rivera and Tacuarembó, west by Durazno, south by 33, east by the coast of Merín Lake, and northeast by Brazil. The state is separated from Brazil by the Yaguarón River, La Mina stream and a conventional line that goes to the Negro River in the limit of the creek.
Its economy is based on the agricultural industry; livestock in a large part of its territory and rice basically in the third, fifth and ninth sectionals; and also has 450 .000 hectares suitable for forestation and 200.000 suitable for dairy farms.
Cerro Largo is a state of a big historic wealth. Our numerous documents proves it. We have photographs; weapons; dresses; and also buildings as the Cathedral Church; The Ranch in which General Fructuoso Rivera died, which is near the Park that has the same name; the house where Juana de Ibarbourou lived and wrote many of her plays; Unión, Obrero and Uruguay football Clubs; the building where Brazilian military politician, Bentos Goncalvez lived; colonial housing; etc.
